In response to the Malian Minister of Health’s request to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for assistance in developing a national telemedicine program, the Office of Global Health Affairs (OGHA) invited four health officials of the Malian National Agency for Telemedicine and Medical Informatics to attend telemedicine workshops organized by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI).  More>>

September 28, 2009 - HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Addresses the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Directing Council

Secretary Sebelius addressed the 49th PAHO Directing Council reaffirming the importance the United States places on its longstanding relationship with PAHO, and renewing U.S. commitment to improve health in the Americas region. The Secretary discussed common public health challenges at the annual meeting including the H1N1 virus with Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization, and Dr. Mirta Rosas Periago, Director of the Pan American Health Organization.  Remarks to the Pan American Health Organization

Secretary Kathleen Sebelius hosted Indonesian Minister of Health Dr. Siti Fadilah Supari on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. The two leaders discussed deepening cooperation on public health, biomedical science and clinical research between the U.S. and Indonesia. Representatives from public health and research directorates within the Ministry of Health conferred with their HHS counterparts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes for Health and the Office of Global Health Affairs.  More>>
