HHS Secretary Leavitt Announces Revised International Health Regulations Enter into Force for the United States

July 17, 2007 – U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael O. Leavitt announced that the revised International Health Regulations (IHRs) enter into force today for the United States.

 

The U.S. government formally accepted the IHRs in December 2006, and began the process at that time of implementing these new international rules for reporting public-health emergencies of international concern.
