The World Health Organization Welcomes Montenegro as a New Member

September 20, 2006 - On September 14, 2006, the World Health Organization (WHO) welcomed the Republic of Montenegro as its 193rd Member State. This new status followed the Republic of Montenegro’s admission to membership in the United Nations on June 28, 2006. When the United Nations admits a new Member State, it may become a Member State of WHO by signing or accepting the Constitution of the organization.

The Republic of Montenegro deposited its instrument of acceptance of the WHO Constitution with the Secretary General of the United Nations on August 29, 2006.
