U.S. Special Representative for Avian and Pandemic Influenza Discusses Sharm el-Sheikh Conference on Voice of America

October 20, 2008 - Ambassador John Lange, the Special Representative for Avian and Pandemic Influenza at the U.S. Department of State, appeared recently on the “Press Conference USA” program of the Voice of America (VOA).  Noting the approaching Sharm el-Sheikh international conference on pandemic preparedness, Ambassador Lange and host Carol Castiel, VOA Science and Medicine Correspondent, discussed the scope of the problem with the H5N1 strain of highly pathogenic avian influenza and current U.S. and international efforts to prevent and contain the threat.
