President Bush Attends APEC Leaders' MeetingOctober 27, 2002 - President Bush attended the Leaders' Meeting of the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Los Cabos, Mexico, to discuss important issues ranging from international economics policy to health and development. Among other accomplishments, the meetings produced a continuing endorsement of APEC's health agenda, extending its focus from primarily infectious diseases to the broader "health and sustainable development." Health is considered within the broader context of economic, trade, and political interests in member economies, which together constitute nearly half of the world's total economy.
