HHS Secretary Delivers Speech on Countering Global Health Threats, Hosted by Woodrow Wilson Center’s Director’s Forum

October 31, 2007 – HHS Secretary Michael O. Leavitt spoke at the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Global Health Initiative Director’s Forum today to set the stage for the Global Health Security Initiative (GHSI) Ministerial this week. Health Ministers, senior officials, and technical experts from the G-7 countries and México, as well as from the European Commission and the Secretariat of the World Health Organization, are convening in Washington, D.C., to address the threats of bioterrorism, infectious disease, and other public-health risks.
