United States and People's Republic of China to Hold Third Meeting Under the Strategic Economic Dialogue in China Next Month

November 21, 2007 - U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael O. Leavitt will join the U.S. Delegation to the People's Republic of China next month for the third meeting under the United States-China Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED). Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Jr., will lead the U.S. side, which will also include Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutiérrez, U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Stephen Johnson, Acting Agriculture Secretary Chuck Conner, and other Administration officials.

 

The third Cabinet-level meeting under the SED will focus on integrity of trade, balanced economic development, energy conservation, financial-sector reform, environmental sustainability, and advancing bilateral investment. Presidents George W. Bush and Hu Jintao launched the SED in September 2006.
