World AIDS Day 2003

World AIDS Day is commemorated each year by the millions of people around the world affected by AIDS. An estimated 42 million people worldwide are living with HIV/AIDS, and each year five million more are infected. President Bush, HHS Secretary Thompson, Secretary of State Powell, and the U.S. government have committed unprecedented resources to fight this terrible pandemic. This year, Secretary Thompson led the largest-ever delegation of leaders to Africa to commemorate World AIDS Day.
