U.S., China Sign Amended MOU on Biomedical and Behavioral ResearchDecember 20, 2005 - Dr. Elias Zerhouni, Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Dr. Zhu Chen, Vice President, Chinese Academy of Sciences, signed an amended Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Biomedical and Behavioral Research. The memorandum will expand the areas of collaboration between the two agencies. The signing capped off a trip by Dr. Zerhouni to Shanghai and Beijing, where he visited with the Shanghai Institutes of Biologic Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China. Dr. Zerhouni also attended a meeting of the Heads of International Research Organizations.
